We Got Ducked

Many years ago, when the world was young...I mean, when Anthony and I used to share an office...we came to work one morning and found THIS.

The card said "What the duck?" and was signed by many colleagues. What a HOOT! We never found out who the instigator was, but now I share an office with her.

That's one huge pile of ducks, by the way. When the yellow cardboard gave way (under the pressure of all those quackers) it took AGES to scoop them out from behind Anthony's desk. I kept running out of empty containers to put them in.

Nowadays, only a handful are left in our office. The rest are in a plastic organizer under a bed at home. Dreaming of their glory days.

This is Not My Bathroom

Thanks to Julie McIlquham for thinking of me when she saw this photo of a bathroom in Nova Scotia. Check out the wallpaper border! Deanna, shall we get some for our office?

Have a good weekend, everybody.

Virtual Pet Duck

Hey, check out the duck on the left-hand toolbar! I found him under Customize > Add a Gadget > More Gadgets in the links at the top of the Blogger page.

If you move your cursor over the duck, he'll interact with you. And if you click "more", you can feed him bread or peanuts! What a hoot. Give it a try.

Thanks to Teresa for the idea! I love the fish in her Old Dog New Tricks blog. Thank you, Teresa!

Kids and Ducks

When my niece came to visit, she loved the duck collection. First she played with the ducks in the living room. In this picture, she's writing in a duck notebook using a duck pen.

But soon she decided that ducks don't belong in the living room!

Rubber Ducky, You're the One

I just spent a fabulous half-hour looking at the blog posts my colleagues have made. Wow, you guys! You're amazing! I wasn't sure what to write about in this blog, but then I looked up and saw the rubber ducks on top of the bookshelf. As some of my colleagues at Central know, I've been collecting these for a few years. Actually, they sort of collected themselves! I told a friend that I liked them, so she gave me one. Then another friend did the same, and before long I ended up with dozens of ducks of all descriptions! I have pirate ducks, devil ducks, plush ducks and miniature ducks. I have ducks that sing and dance, ducks that light up when you put them in water, a duck squirt-gun and duck-scissors that quack when you cut things.

In this blog I'll tell you about a few of the ducks that have joined my collection over the years. I like their bright colours and simple shapes, but mostly I like them because they remind me of the friends and colleagues who gave them to me--always with a smile.

(P.S. The duck-picture above is in the public domain. I found it in the Wikimedia Commons. Isn't it great?)
